Well, today was the shopping day, and you know how much I love to shop. Fortunqtely, we kept it relatively short. We went down to Galleries Lafayette, changed money and started shopping. After spending a half hour or so at the perfume area we split up into two groups of four each. We looked at everything they had over the next hour and a half. Most of it was rediculously expensive, but there were a few good deals. The best deal was getting 22% off for being a non-EU citizen. We bought a few things and met back at the perfume area. That's where we dropped some serious money. Each one found the fragrance(s) that he or she wished to purchase and we headed out. Ms. Kim had gotten a sample card of one of the cologne fragrances while we were there and brought it out while we were down in the metro. It smelled so good that we went back into the store and one of the girls who had been unable to find a gift for her boyfriend bought some. We went back to the hotel and got ready for supper. We decided to go back to a Pizza Hut restaurant that we had passed on the way to the department store. I've been letting a different student navigate each trip for the group so that they can become familiar with how to get around on their own. So far, no problems. It helps having Jacq with us because she won't let us go n the wrong direction for too long. She has an uncanny sense of direction! We discovered that it costs more to sit down and eat than it does to take it with you or have it delivered. Nonetheless, we ordered a huge feast of pizza, breadsticks, dessert (incredible) and Pepsi. We need a Pizza Hut like this in Jacksonville, but at our prices. We rode the metro for about a half an hour, singing Christian songs in English, French, and even some African dialect that we learned as part of the "Power in the Blood" song. We have no idea what permanent effect this may ultimately have, but we were faithful in sowing the seed.
We got back to the hotel around 11:00. After an hour or so of taking showers (the hair dryers are toast, so they all have to wash their hair at night so that it has time to dry) we had devotions, led by Carrie. It referenced how to keep the line of communication with God open. We talked about how Abraham got on his face before God and what thet means for us. Some of the kids went to bed and others stayed to discuss issues in their lives. God was able to use two sections of scripture that I had been reading that day in a way that I could not have predicted. It is awesome to me how we can serve God at times and not know how He is going to use what we do. Around 6:00 they finally went to bed, despite pleas to stay up all night (I'm no dummy). Hopefully, this will help to readjust us to Eastern Standard Time, US. 6:00 AM is 11:00 PM your time.
Today, the plan is to go to the spot where Princess Diana was killed and lay flowers for Mrs. Lamour. From there, it is a short walk to the American University of Paris, where I went to school. Hopefully, they will be able to get me in touch with the family I stayed with when I was here. I'll let you know how it goes. Please continue to pray for us. God is using this opportunity; away from TV, family, friends, school, etc, to accomplish things and establish the right relationship with God in His proper perspective. I am sure that we all will return stronger Christians and more thankful to live in America!
