Bible- Bible time is the most important half-hour of the school day. Bible time includes the Pledge to the Flag, a patriotic song, Bible hymns and choruses, memory verses, prayer time, and a Bible story.

Reading- Sixth graders read as a class once each day. In addition to readers containing a variety of stories, students use Adventures in Greatness and Read and Think6.

Language- Sixth graders use Language C as they continue to study language. Students add to their knowledge of the eight parts of speech by studying each one in detail. They also expand their diagramming skills. Sixth graders read to novels, Billy Sunday and Message of the Mountain.

Spelling and Poetry- Spelling, Vocabulary, and Poetry6 provides the students with a new list of spelling and vocabulary word and definitions to learn each week

Penmanship- Penmanship is taught for 10 minutes each day. In the 1st semester, students complete exercises in Creative Writing as well as activities from the chalkboard and dictation. They also keep a journal and other creative writing assignments as a part of the Language 6 curriculum.

Arithmetic- Sixth graders continue to learn the fundamentals of traditional arithmetic. An emphasis is placed upon understanding and working with decimals and percents. Students have their first introduction to prime factoring and using proportions to solve problems. They continue to expand their understand of whole numbers, fractions, geometry, basic algebra, measures, statistics and other necessary skills and concepts.

Science- Students study Observing God’s World daily for 35 minutes during the first 25 weeks of the school year. Sixth graders learn about the plant kingdom, invertebrates, the structure of the earth, volcanoes, earthquakes, rocks, caves, stars, and galaxies, constellations, the solar system, concepts of light and motion, and space exploration and technology.

Health- Health is taught for 35 minutes each day during the last 9 weeks of the school year. Choosing Good Health places special emphasis on the study of the endocrine, immune and nervous systems. Health concerns such as drug abuse and the deadly disease AIDS; a proper attitude toward safety; basic first aid procedures for minor injuries and how to maintain a healthy spirit are taught.

History- New World History and Geography is studied for 35 minutes each day throughout the year. It presents the history and geography of North and South America form a Christian perspective. With the aid of many colorful maps, photographs, and illustrations, the text inspires students to learn more about the people and places of their own land and neighboring countries. Key documents in our country’s history and facts about our states, capital and presidents are memorized.
